2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 vs 2025 Polestar 2
Buyers looking for all-around value for money don’t need to read any further as the IONIQ 6 is the way to go. Hyundai managed to design and manufacture a seriously competitive electric sedan for thousands less than all competitors, including the 2025 Polestar 2. An 851 location strong dealer network further strengthens the IONIQ’s value proposition and allows buyers to travel freely knowing they’re covered no matter where the journey takes them.

Performance
When it comes to vehicle development, Hyundai’s engineering prowess has been on full display for decades. The 2025 IONIQ 6 wonderfully blends white-knuckle acceleration with class-leading range and efficiency. Those who prioritize driving range over performance will love the single-motor SE model, the range hero of the lineup with a class-leading 345 miles per charge. Alternatively, speed demons can opt for the dual-motor setup offering the superior traction of all-wheel drive while charging from 0 mph to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds.
The 2025 Polestar 2 on the other hand does not have the broad appeal of the IONIQ as it can only be had with only powertrain configuration. The dual motor setup is powerful and offers competitive acceleration to the IONIQ but buyers will have to sacrifice range as drivers can only travel 251 miles per charge. While this is comparable to the dual-motor setup in the IONIQ 6 drivers will have longer wait times at charging stations as the Polestar takes every bit of 30 minutes to get from 10% to 80%, a feat the 2025 IONIQ 6 achieves in 18 minutes.
Safety Features
The 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 has the safety chops to keep drivers safe no matter the circumstances. As with other Hyundai vehicles, it comes standard with active safety tech including:
-
-
-
Highway Driving Assist
-
Lane Following Assist
-
Lane Keeping Assist
-
Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go
-
-
Further bolstering the 2025 IONIQ 6’s safety credentials is its stellar test ratings from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). For 2025 it received the vaunted “Top Safety Pick +” rating, the highest award it’s possible to receive.
To be fair the 2025 Polestar 2 comes with a lot of the same safety tech as standard, however, drivers using the Adaptive Cruise Control system will need to work harder to stay on center as the Polestar’s system will only intervene if the vehicle is about to go off the road. The IONIQ 6 on the other hand has a lane-centering feature that allows drivers to provide minimal steering input, even around curves. What’s more, at the time of this writing Polestar has not submitted an example to be tested by the IIHS so drivers don’t have as much proof it’s as safe as advertised.
Interior
One challenge EV designers know they have is ensuring a quiet cabin. With no engine to mask outside noise a lot more effort is required to eliminate vibration and harshness. The 2025 IONIQ 6 does not disappoint with Hyundai going to great lengths to install a multi-layer sound deadening system that ensures outside noise is appropriately curtailed. Just finished up having some fun in the sun at Delray Beach? Use Hyundau’s BlueLink app to precondition the IONIQ 6’s cabin to a comfortable temperature then use the dual 12.3-inch screens to set the Bose surround sound system just right and project your favorite navigation app while your phone sits on the wireless charging pad during your journey home.
The cabin of the 2025 Polestar 2 is tech-forward with a large 11.2-inch screen mounted in the center console that handles all functions. It does give a futuristic experience however it’s not as intuitive as the setup in the IONIQ which is sure to frustrate drivers trying to adjust the settings while on the move.
Bottom Line
If you’re looking for an inexpensive EV with a timeless design and cutting-edge technology the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 6 is the obvious choice. The Polestar 2 is a compelling option for those who don’t mind the hefty price tag but dollar for dollar cannot match the IONIQ 6’s blend of performance, value, and safety.
